After a new WhatsApp policy update raised security concerns, Pakistan decided to develop its own messaging app that includes all modern communication features, including messages, voice calls and videos.

The application was developed by the Ministry of Information Technology and IT specialists. Work on the project will begin after approval by the Federal Cabinet of Ministers.

The application will provide complete protection of data and messages of people, without disclosing the user's personal data to third parties.

According to the Ministry of Information Technology, users can register on the app using their mobile phone and CNIC number.

IT expert Fawad Riaz spoking to a private channel Pakistan should have developed its own local messaging application.

“Pakistan should have been focusing on its local economy earlier and promoting its locally developed applications,” he said, adding that the world will look at us [Pakistan] only if we develop our local domestic market.

He also said Pakistan should develop a multi-purpose messaging application similar to WeChat.

According to the information technology ministry, the application will be implemented in large cities at the first stage after its experimental development.

It should be noted here that many users criticized Facebook's own WhatsApp app after a new policy update caused security issues.

The messaging apps Signal and Telegram are seeing a sudden surge in demand after the updated terms of service of its larger rival WhatsApp caused surprise on social media.
